Introducing our new Skill Gap Analysis
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/skillgapanalysis.png
EDUC8EU includes a new Skill Gap Analysis component. Designed to empower students with valuable insights into their chosen learning pathways, our system focuses on basic and transversal skills, recognizing that technology-related skills are often acquired during university education. By identifying skill gaps early on, students can make informed decisions about their learning pathway selections. This strategic approach ensures that they are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their chosen fields upon graduation.[br][br]Here are some key features of our Skill Gap Analysis component:[br][br]1. Comprehensive Database: We have sourced data from ESCO, ILO, and ONET databases, providing a rich and up-to-date resource of job profiles, learning pathways and associated skills.[br]2. Customized Reports: Our platform generates personalized reports for each student, highlighting their current skill set and identifying areas for improvement. These reports serve as valuable roadmaps for academic advisors and students alike.[br]3. Targeted Recommendations: Based on the identified skill gaps, our system provides tailored recommendations for each student. Microservices architecture
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/microserices.png
The EDUC8EU software adopts the Microservices architecture approach. Microservices architecture (often shortened to microservices) refers to an architectural style for developing applications, which allows a large application to be separated into smaller independent parts, with each part having its own realm of responsibility. This makes it easier and less expensive to scale one part of the EDUC8EU application. This style enables fast and cost-efficient upgrades. We can do this without affecting the rest of the application.
EDUC8EU ontology: operating principles
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/ontology.jpg
[div]The provision of [u]personalized[/u] services in higher education requires extensive conceptualization since the HEI learning pathways enclose a highly multi-faceted domain of knowledge. HEIs constitute complex structures with various types of resources, events and agents. The implementation of EDUC8 ontology aims at the efficient representation of the specific complex domain so as to facilitate the recommendation and execution of personalized and evolving LP within a HEI. EDUC8EU ontology covers:[/div][div]a) the Learner domain, [/div]b) the Learning pathway domain,[br]c) the Business and Finance domain (in HEI) and[br]d) the Quality Assurance domain in education provision environments.[div][br][/div][div]These aspects are inextricably intertwined, therefore none can be neglected.[/div][br][a href="https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10639-019-09877-4" target="_blank"]Read our publication[/a]
Fuzzy Logic to deal with uncertainty
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/mamdani.jpg
The fuzzy inference engine of the present system uses Mamdani inferencing, which is widely accepted for describing expert knowledge in a more intuitive and human-like manner. The process is performed in four steps:[br](a) Fuzzification of the learner variables: determining the degree to which these inputs belong to each of the appropriate fuzzy sets[br] (b) Academic advising rule evaluation (inference): for each rule, applying the result of the antecedent evaluation to the Membership Function[br](c) Aggregation of the rule outputs (composition): unification of the outputs of all rules into a single fuzzy set[br](d) Defuzzification: Calculation of the final output of the FLC in a crisp format[br]The fuzzy linguistic variables that are dynamic estimators of student's interest for a specific learning pathway.
Enhancing User Experience with the DALL-E AI System
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/dall-enews.png
[div]The profile assessment component has undergone an upgrade, now featuring an enhanced capability to display relevant images generated by the cutting-edge DALL-E AI system. This enhancement empowers the end user to visualize the question at hand, enabling them to provide more precise and accurate answers. [br][/div][div][br][/div][br][center][img src="https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/dall-e.png" width="345"][/center]
EDUC8EU Career clusters
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/carrerclusters.jpg
A career cluster is a group of occupations with similar features. Jobs in the same cluster require similar knowledge or skill sets. If someone enjoys a job in a particular cluster, they are more likely to enjoy related occupations in the group.[br][br]EDUC8EU knowledge base categorizes results in 16 career clusters:[br][ol][li]Architecture & Construction[/li][li]Arts, Audio/Video Technology & Communications[/li][li]Business Management & Administration[/li][li]Education & Training[/li][li]Finance[/li][li]Government & Public Administration[/li][li]Health Science[/li][li]Hospitality & Tourism[/li][li]Human Services[/li][li]Information Technology[/li][li]Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security[/li][li]Manufacturing[/li][li]Marketing[/li][li]Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics[/li][li]Transportation, Distribution & Logistics[/li][/ol] [center][a href="all.jsp"][u]View occupations by career cluster[/u][/a][/center]
Enter your RIASEC profile manually
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/riasec.jpg
The term Holland Codes and abbreviation RIASEC refer to John Holland's six personality types: Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E) and Conventional (C). EDUC8EU incorporates an integrated self-assessment test to determine your RIASEC code. However, you can also add your code manually:[br][br][img src="https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/riasec1.png"][img src="https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/riasec2.png"]
AI in career and academic advising
https://educ8eu.invest-alliance.eu/engine/assets/images/AI.jpg
An AI system is a computer program that is designed to solve complex problems and sometimes to provide decision-making ability like a human expert. EDUC8EU utilizes state-of-the-art algorithms to help in decision making for academic advising using both facts and heuristics like a human expert. It performs this by extracting knowledge from its knowledge base using the reasoning and inference rules according to the user queries. [br][br]An important attribute to the EDUC8EU approach is that in any execution cycle, new knowledge can be created that will be utilized in the next tasks that belong to a particular learning pathway. This attribute ensures the constant update of the knowledge that is stored inside the ontology together with the rule repository.
